This short video talks about some of the basic math concepts learned by building stuff and counting it.  i hope you can see "lessons" (observations and discoveries) regarding counting by twos and fours. All 20 four facts are contained in that Star Cruiser.

This was a massive project.  It took much longer than an hour. i used to babysit boys and of course i made them build stuff and count it. Time flies when you're having math. Seemed like mom and dad just left and the came back to pick them up a few minutes later except it had been over 4 hours...engagement. Counting by threes 40 times, and twos and fours and twenty fives and that's just cannons. How long is it? How wide? How many units would it be if you counted every thing in green ones? Or you could do worksheets and wonder why your students hate you, and wonder why there is so much money in  trauma relief tutoring. No other subject causes so much anxiety, you can say physics or chemistry but 100% of the time they are failing those subjects because of math. 

i run into traumatized women all the time. It wasn't the math, it was the way it was taught. Be careful with worksheets.

The Emphasis is usually on multiplication because it takes so much repetition to make those facts available for instant recall.  Some of the games are the same but they can build and be creative and it isn't counting the same thing over and over again. They get to be creative with their lessons.

We counted until she was exhibiting mastery by using instant recall to answer multiplication questions instead of algorithms involving fingers. Before i turned the camera on she got several in a row, but as soon as the camera went on... 

This board is spartan. Usually they have trees and flowers and mountains or hills. his one is no nonsense. The roads to the blocks couple of water features and good to go.  You push Sammy's ten ton truck shown in the upper left hand corner. He could pick up a two and an eight and then drop them off at the ten depot (the rectangle)...or they could pick up a block and put it on one of the buildings and count it all. The object of the game is to get everything right.  Don't have to start over again counting sevens because you got it wrong or lost count. Three camera shy little boys were playing here. When i took this picture they had piled up quite a few sevens and other numbers and had built no tens, tens are boring they wanted to build sky scrapers.

Coupled with Module One, you basically get my website from years ago before i added all the parent/teacher training and the so called "advanced" pages.  Spend time on these pages and training will be a breeze. Module Three puts theory into practice. Example IS the lesson. Module Two gives you theory and some practice, this module is all theory IN practice right in front of your eyes, you see and hear the children learning in real time. You can hear the ah-ha moments...the lessons are unrehearsed with real students. They are fun because learning is fun and watching others learn is fun too. MOD 4: "Advanced Pages" + SSDSS Facebook Math Group 
"Advanced" (Module IV) $250.00 = i say "advanced" because Module Four is higher level math, but really you are still just creatively applying the five basic concepts. It has however come to my attention that other curriculums are not using the blocks to teach upper level algebra, and resort to symbols only in their books. i put the pictures back in and show you what the symbols mean and what the problems look like. This greatly enhances speed and efficiency of learning as well as making abstract concepts accessible to kinesthetic learners who can build the problems from the drawings. Visual learners love this method because they can see the symbols and operations, which makes it fun. 

I have lots of explanatory videos to make and add. I also have several entry or landing pages to build. When the dust settles it should be much easier to navigate, to get started, & to know what to do next.
